2020: Reflections on an unpredictable year

2020 has been an unpredictable rollercoaster of a year but it’s times like this you realise just how important it is to have a strong team around you. Despite the many challenges we have all faced, the incovo team has worked incredibly hard. And so we thought we would share a few of their highlights and celebrate their achievements, because this year more than ever they have done us proud.

Connecting businesses

incovo kicked off 2020 by hosting its first ever business brunch in Glasgow. The event featured inspirational guest speakers from the world of technology, as well as legal and medical professionals, who certainly gave us all a lot to think about. Not least Chris Moon MBE, who gave a truly moving talk about his personal journey overcoming adversity.

The event also provided a great opportunity for people to network with a diverse range of business representatives and industry experts. For many in attendance, these new connections proved to be invaluable over the past few months, as they supported each other when times were tough.

We were overwhelmed at the turn-out and the positive responses from everyone in attendance, and we hope to host another event when the current restrictions are finally eased.

Helping businesses adjust to life in a pandemic

When Lockdown came into force and businesses of all sizes, across all sectors, faced an unprecedented level of disruption, the team at incovo stepped up to the plate. Within the space of just a few weeks, incovo switched an incredible 95% of its clients to remote working. They also compiled a Covid-19 checklist for businesses to help them navigate those first few unsettling weeks. With so many clients reporting what a success the move to home-working has been, incovo is delighted to continue to support them as they transition to a permanent remote working structure.

Supporting clients, old and new

It is testament to incovo’s high standards of service that all of their long-standing customers renewed their contracts in 2020. It was also heartening to see so many new clients come on board, especially those who made contact after being personally recommended by another client.

Growing the team and the business

This year, incovo secured a major business deal saw them join forces with the IT services branch of Glasgow business, Eta Delta. The move significantly bolstered incovo’s IT provision capabilities, enabling them to offer high-end IT support, cyber security consultancy, and remote working implementation. This is set to have a considerable impact on the company’s reach and turnover, which will put incovo in a strong position to rival some of the leading IT providers in Scotland.

As part of the deal, James Myles, director of Eta Delta, and his team moved across to incovo. James, who is now a director and a shareholder of incovo, is now doing a phenomenal job of heading up the IT team.

Sharing the secrets of their success

incovo enjoyed multiple appearances in the press in 2020, including an interview in The National newspaper and two appearances on That’s TV. Each interview gave CEO Chris Thomas an opportunity to discuss incovo’s ability to keep moving forward and adapt to the times, and Chris was more than happy to share his unique insights and advice to help as many other businesses as possible.

Volunteering their services

When businesses were struggling, incovo was proud to sign up to join the Scottish Tech Army and volunteer their services. Formed at the height of the coronavirus pandemic in Spring 2020, the Scottish Tech Army has recruited more than 1,200 passionate volunteers who have already worked on more than 150 projects to the benefit of the people and communities of Scotland. Their mission is to mobilise the Scottish tech community, applying the talents, creativity, and commitment of its members to achieve rapid delivery of technology solutions to some of the most important problems we face as a nation. Making a difference to the lives of those in need

The incovo team would usually send a small token of their appreciation to their clients at Christmas, however, this year they wanted to spread the festive cheer a little further. They therefore made a donation of £500 to the Trussell Trust to provide emergency food to people in crisis across Edinburgh, Glasgow, and West Lothian. Now more than ever, the incovo team is passionate about supporting others in whatever way they can.
