Young director has Scotland in safe hands

Top business leaders from across the country recently gathered at Glasgow’s DoubleTree by Hilton for a glittering awards ceremony organised by the Institute of Directors. A wide variety of sectors, industries and businesses were represented, but what united them all was the talented, innovative and passionate driving forces behind each one – the company directors that are moving Scotland forward.

incovo’s CEO, Chris Thomas, was delighted to be amongst them, having been nominated and shortlisted for the Young Director of the Year award. Although he was pipped at the final post and missed out on the title, the judges were full of praise for Chris’s approach to leadership.

Commenting on his track record of success, they highlighted Chris’s ‘Impressive growth and expansion evidence. Strong evidence presented. Innovative approaches demonstrated. Good clear statements on skills. Strong evidence of knowledge development. An outstanding application’.

In addition, the awards ceremony host, Grant Stott, noted, ‘What’s exciting is the fantastic number and calibre of entries received, particularly in the Inclusivity, Young Director and Start-Up Director categories – if these folk are the future, then we’re in safe hands’.

This is incredible feedback, especially given the fact Chris took on the role of CEO just two years ago.
Reflecting on the night Chris said, ‘Being nominated and shortlisted for an Institute of Directors award has been an amazing experience. To see the outstanding talent this country is producing, and to be included amongst such high calibre candidates means so much to me’.

Of course, this is just the start for Chris – he believes he’s got what it takes to develop incovo into Scotland’s leading business telecommunications and imaging solutions provider. And with the recognition he is now receiving for his tireless hard work, there is no doubt that business leaders across the country will pay close attention to Chris to see how he continues to take incovo from strength to strength.

incovo’s CEO, Chris Thomas, shortlisted for Young Director of the Year award

We are delighted to announce that incovo’s CEO, Chris Thomas, has been nominated and shortlisted for The Institute of Directors ‘Young Director of the Year’ award!

The highly regarded annual awards recognise and celebrate the most inspiring and pioneering business leaders in the UK from a variety of sectors. The aim of the Young Director of the Year award in particular is to identify those who stand out amongst the next generation of directors by demonstrating the ability to see potential within their business, and utilising their own unique creativity and vision to inspire significant growth.

Whittling nominees down to the final shortlist involved a rigorous judging process which included analysing the director’s strategic thinking and decision-making skills, leadership and influence, as well as the overall performance of the business.

Judges were impressed by how much of a transformation Chris has achieved in the few short years he has been CEO at incovo, as well as his fresh and dynamic approach to business.

On hearing the announcement Chris said, ‘I was delighted to have been nominated for The Institute of Directors Awards, but to have been shortlisted for the finals is even more amazing! I would never have got this far if it weren’t for the incredible team at incovo. These past two years have been a steep learning curve for me and every team member has played a vital part in my journey, so this recognition is just as much about them as it is about me’.

Being shortlisted for this award is a real testament to Chris’s hard work, determination, and future-focused vision for incovo. We wish him the best of luck for the awards ceremony on 23rd May when the 2019 winner will be revealed!

The technology that’s taking over the world

It is unquestionably one of the biggest names in technology and one of the most instantly-recognisable brands in the world – so this month we’re continuing to focus on the technology of tomorrow by turning the spotlight on Apple.

Each Apple product launch is hotly anticipated so it’s not unusual to see thousands of Apple fans queuing outside every store, ready to get their hands on the latest release. But this isn’t just the result of clever marketing – there is real substance to this brand’s products. Apple’s enduring appeal lies in the fact that in everything they create – from software to hardware – they strive to make things simple. Their products are intuitive and easy to use, and that’s exactly the sort of solution we at incovo strive to provide our customers with.

We’re also big fans of the fact that all Apple devices work together – you can sync your iPhone with your Mac, which you can sync with your Apple watch. And it’s this kind of collaborative technology we’re particularly passionate about at incovo. In fact, we specialise in a range of solutions that work on this principle, enabling your team to stay connected by collaborating via video, instant messaging, document sharing and audio conferencing.

Security is something we take seriously here at incovo, so we were excited to see the response to Apple’s Face ID. They effectively created the most secure facial authentication for smartphones ever, and in so doing, they reinvented the way we unlock, log in to apps and pay for things.

We also admire Apple’s courage to explore new markets. For example, this summer they’ll launch the Apple Card – a brand new kind of credit card designed to help customers lead a healthier financial life.

Here at incovo, we understand that making finances as easy to manage as possible is a number one priority for many businesses. That’s why all our solutions – from mobile solutions that integrate with office cloud phone systems, phone lines and broadband, printers and document management solutions, cabling and door entry solutions– can all be wrapped into one easy to track opex cost.

Of course, the key thing about Apple is that they keep moving forward and their dedication to innovation is unwavering. Here at incovo, we too believe in staying ahead of the curve, delivering the technology of the future to our customers.

Like Apple, we’re also committed to helping businesses get ahead. That’s why we’re not only proud to sell iPhones, we also provide some fantastic business mobile packages. Drop us an email at support@incovo.com or call 0345 450 8400 to find out more.

Why Scottish IT managers need to move to SIP

Why Scottish IT managers need to move to SIP

When it comes to technology, it’s essential your business keeps moving with the times in order to remain in the game. And there’s one major technological development on the horizon that could be a real game-changer for your business – the switch to SIP trunks. With BT aiming to shut down the PSTN and ISDN network by 2025, and Vodafone switching off in just a matter of months, your business will need to move to IP-only lines, if you haven’t already. The clock is ticking so now is the time to make the switch. Read on as we count down our top five reasons why changing to SIP could be the best business decision you make this year…

  1. Avoid network failures: Many customers on the Vodafone network are receiving letters to advise that their ISDN connection is being switched off. This is a result of the high costs to maintain the technology that is nearly 20 years old.
  2. Save a significant amount of money: Enjoy a fixed (and significantly reduced!) cost as a result of switching to SIP and take advantage of the free calls to UK mobile, local and national numbers.
  3. Simplify your IT: Consolidate your separate analogue and TDM circuits over a SIP trunk for a more efficient use of your bandwidth.
  4. Benefit from unified communications and collaboration: With SIP trunks you can run voice, video and data across the same connection between offices and communications service providers.
  5. Scale up: SIP is a scalable solution so you can scale up bandwidth with ease.

And don’t just take our word for it – incovo has successfully switched a variety of businesses to SIP, all of which have reported seeing significant benefits already. Here are a just a few clients we’ve switched in the first quarter of this year:

The Answer Centre
The Answer Centre comprises a selection of prestigious serviced offices and operates a professional in-house telephone answering service in Edinburgh’s city centre. By switching to SIP, they are now on-course to save an estimated £33,000 over the next five years. Their costs are fixed and they are now able to increase the amount of voice channels with ease.

Cooper Bros
Cooper Bros is an independent, family business that is committed to providing their customers with a comprehensive tyre supply and fitting service. By way of future-proofing the business, incovo upgraded them to the Avaya IP Office on R11, new J169 handsets and Avaya call reporting that allows their contact centre side to be monitored in high detail. incovo also set up SIP trunks to save on costs, and to avoid any future disruption resulting from the impending ISDN switch off.

Customworks
Customworks are the leading suppliers of UK-made bespoke and wholesale stationery, gift and tableware products to the heritage, museum and retail sectors. They are now enjoying all the benefits of switching to SIP thanks to incovo, who not only set up SIP trunks, but also installed Avaya IP office and a series of new J139 handsets. The system is effectively paying for itself thanks to the significant savings their already making.

Homework Diary Company
Homework Diary Company are the market leaders in bespoke educational print solutions, producing publications such as planners, exercise books and yearbooks for schools right across Scotland. When it came to the switch, they had no hesitation in turning to incovo who installed Avaya IP office, the new J139 handsets, and set up SIP trunks.

Switching to SIP is a major undertaking but one that the highly-trained experts at incovo can ensure is as smooth as possible. If you’d like to find out more about how it could benefit your business, call 0345 450 8400 or email support@incovo.com.

incovo hits the headlines

When word started to spread of how incovo’s CEO Chris Thomas was making waves in the telecommunications industry, the press were keen to find out more. First came an in-depth interview with Scottish Business Insider magazine, then The Scotsman published a full-page spread, and now Chris has hit the headlines once again, this time in leading technology magazine Tech Reseller.

Chris sat down with technology journalist James Trim to discuss his rise to the top. From taking on the role of CEO, to helping manage over £800k worth of contracts, it’s evident that Chris has packed a lot into his first two years at incovo, and this is just the beginning.

incovo: Helping your business go green, one step at a time

Here at incovo, we believe that little changes can have a big impact. That’s why as a team we’ve made a commitment to go green in a bid to reduce our company’s energy consumption. In an ideal world, we’d be a completely paperless organisation, but the reality is we still have a real need for some paper documents, so instead we’ve worked hard to reduce our paper output where and whenever possible, and ensure our digital and paper documents work together as efficiently as possible.

Did you know for example that in the average office, 30% of documents are printed then thrown in the bin, and 50% of all print jobs remain unclaimed at the printer? This is a huge amount of waste, so before you print anything, stop and ask yourself if it’s absolutely necessary. If it’s not, the amount you’ll save in terms of paper, ink and energy will soon add up.

If you want to take your sustainability efforts one step further, it’s worth considering looking into setting up an electronic document management system (DMS). Instead of printing emails, invoices and purchase orders for example, the DMS can check and store documents. And adding optical character recognition (OCR) features to your DMS is a fantastic way to transform your scanned documents into searchable, editable (and more workable!) documents.

Here’s how it works – if an invoice matches a purchase order, a notification will automatically be sent and the invoice can then be marked to show it’s ready for payment. An email will then be sent to say it’s ready for payment and another when it has been paid. Here at incovo, we have access to the biggest names and can provide you with OCR software from the likes of PaperCut, Docuware and FileStream. As well as saving paper, this kind of workflow automation can work wonders in saving your team’s valuable time.

Or how about upgrading your printing equipment to the latest energy-efficient model? incovo is a 5-star accredited partner of Konica Minolta and we’re also a UTAX partner, which means we can offer you the most up-to-the-minute software solutions – from document management and cloud-based solutions, to franking machines and folding machines – we can help your business save a significant amount of energy and money.

If you want to find out more, our Print Presales Consultant Andy Taylor is the number one man to speak to. With 20 years of experience, including a role as Managing Director of Simple Digital, Andy has a huge amount of knowledge when it comes to helping businesses reduce their energy and paper consumption. Drop him an email at andy.taylor@incovo.com or call 0345 450 8400 and he’ll be happy to discuss ways your business could achieve a more sustainable and cost-effective way to work. Less paper wasted. Less money wasted. It’s as simple as that.

If this has spurred you on to go green, we’ve put together five more ways to help you reduce your energy consumption in the office. Incorporate them into your daily routine to help save the environment and no doubt you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the money you save too.

  1. Sort and separate
It takes just a few minutes each day to sort and separate paper, plastic, glass and food waste into the relevant recycling receptacles, which can significantly reduce landfill. Encourage your team members to reduce, recycle and reuse where possible.
  2. Dial it down
Turn down the dial on the office thermostat by just 1°C and you could reduce your annual fuel bill by as much as 10%.
  3. Turn it off
Electrical appliances in ‘stand-by’ mode account for 5% of our total energy consumption, so make an effort to turn off and unplug equipment before you leave the office.
  4. Lights out
Change to modern, energy-efficient lightbulbs – they use just a quarter of the electricity that traditional incandescents do and they can last up to 10 times longer than.
  5. Switch it up
Make the switch to a greener energy supplier – some suppliers offer 100% renewable electricity and frack-free green gas.

incovo in action

There are many companies that seem to ‘talk the talk’, but here at incovo we believe in action. We’re passionate about connecting with customers, understanding their unique needs, and devising intelligent solutions that have a significant impact on their business. That’s why we thought we’d show you exactly what we’re all about by launching a series of videos and case studies, so you can see us in action.

First up, we’ve just launched our brand-new series of ‘In Convo with incovo’ videos. In each film, we pose one question to each member of the team. To kick things off, we cut right to the chase and asked, ‘Who makes the worst coffee in the office?’ – the answers to which were quite revealing. In fact, some of the incovo team members didn’t hold back! If you want to find out whose staff room offerings were well and truly slated, watch the full video HERE.

Aside from the office banter, there’s a serious side to what we do here at incovo. So in addition to our ‘In Convo with incovo’ videos, we’ve also put together a series of informational films. The first instalment, ‘What is incovo?’, takes us right back to the beginning of the incovo journey and shows exactly what sets us apart from the competition – our passion and our commitment to delivering the very best telecommunications and digital imaging solutions. You can watch the video in full HERE.

We’re confident we can have a positive impact on your business, but don’t just take our word for it – we have a huge range of customers whose businesses have benefitted significantly from working with us. We have a loyal client base throughout the UK, Europe and the Middle East, with customers ranging from small enterprises, to global brands, right up to Fortune 100 companies. To give you a better idea of exactly how we’re changing businesses for the better, we’ve just launched a series of case studies, starting with YourGP – one of Scotland’s leading private medical practices. To read the full case study, click HERE.

So now you’ve seen what we can do for others, let us show you what we can do for you. Call us on 0345 450 8400 or email support@incovo.com and arrange an appointment to see our demonstration room. Our technology experts will take the time to understand what your business really needs, then put a comprehensive plan straight into action.

incovo awarded exclusive Avaya Sapphire Partnership status

We’re only a couple of weeks into the New Year but the incovo team are already cracking open the Champagne and celebrating success! We’ve just been awarded with the Avaya Sapphire Partnership status which is a HUGE achievement in the world of telecommunications – just a handful of UK companies have been awarded this exclusive status.

To achieve this impressive milestone, incovo faced rigorous assessments on a variety of factors, including our volume of Avaya customers, their spend, and our customer retention. We’re delighted to announce we came out on top right across the board; our spend with Avaya broke the £400,000 mark in 2018 and we achieved our highest level of customer retention to date.

Our customer feedback was also judged to be excellent, thanks to our speedy response times and knowledgeable team members. And the level of technical qualifications achieved by our engineers was also deemed to be outstanding, thanks to incovo’s ongoing commitment to investing in the team’s professional progression. In fact, we now have six fully trained Avaya engineers based in Scotland, with further support in England and Brussels.

Our new Avaya Sapphire Partnership status will enable us to offer our customers even more competitive prices on Avaya systems and equipment, and we can now provide increasingly complex solutions to suit more specific business requirements.

Following the announcement, Alison Hastings, Head of Avaya UK Channels said, ‘I am delighted to see incovo have been awarded Sapphire Status within the Avaya Partner Program. This is well deserved and testament to their commitment and investment in Avaya solutions, increasing their Avaya revenue by over 160% in the last 12 months. We look forward to seeing more success from incovo and I wish to extend my congratulations to them’.

Reacting to the news, Chris Thomas, CEO of incovo said, ‘We’re so proud of our team’s effort over the past year. To achieve the Avaya Sapphire Partner status demonstrates our award-winning service and dedication to the industry. I’m delighted’.

We’ve worked hard to achieve this status and our expert engineers and dedicated sales team have done a fantastic job. Thank you to all of our customers who continue to trust incovo to provide the solutions and service we do.

With 2019 off to such a promising start, we’re now well on our way to achieving Avaya Diamond Partnership status, which we believe we can achieve by 2020. We’ll make sure the Champagne is on ice for then!

The technology of tomorrow

The incovo team are passionate about technological innovations, that’s why we invest considerable time researching the latest advances in the telecommunications and printing industries so we can offer our customers the most up-to-the-minute solutions. But it’s not just phone systems and MFDs that get us fired up, every member shares an avid interest in gadgets, gismos and inspirational inventions. So we’ve compiled a blog featuring some of the most ground-breaking ideas, people and products around. And because technology is advancing at a faster pace than ever before, you can expect these technology blog updates on a regular basis.

First up, we’re turning the spotlight on Elon Musk – the engineering entrepreneur renowned for investing in revolutionary technological innovations. Thanks to Elon, things that just a few decades ago would have sounded like they were straight out of a sci-fi movie are now very much a reality. Take Tesla for example – not just responsible for bringing sustainable energy cars to the mass market, but for taking things to the next level by developing self-driving cars.

Then there’s SpaceX which specialises in designing, manufacturing and launching advanced rockets and spacecraft. They’re currently working on the next generation of fully reusable launch vehicles which they claim will be the most powerful ever built, capable of carrying humans to Mars and other destinations in the solar system.

Another string to Elon’s bow is The Boring Company (which is much more exciting than it sounds!), an infrastructure and tunnel construction company founded as a response to the traffic congestion problems in Los Angeles. And of course there’s SolarCity which manufactures and installs solar energy panels on residential and commercial properties, enabling more and more people to turn to renewable energy in a bid to save the planet.

It’s Elon Musk’s out-of-the-box thinking and relentless desire to push technology forward that appeals to the incovo team, and we strive to ‘be a little more Musk’ in our approach. We may not be building space rockets, but every member of incovo is dedicated to seeking out the best technology and creating effective solutions that revolutionise the way businesses operate.

And so with that in mind, here are incovo’s top five technological developments from the world of telecommunications and digital imaging we think we should all be looking out for over the coming months.

  1. Workforce mobility and BYOD

The workplace is changing as more and more people opt to work remotely. The classic Monday to Friday, 9 to 5 office hours are becoming less popular as employees look for greater flexibility, whether it’s to work around childcare, or to attain a better work / life balance. In response, we’re seeing more organisations embrace workforce mobility and BYOD (Bring Your Own Device), which enables staff to work from home or on the go. If this is something you’d like to find out more about, speak to the incovo team about making the most of collaborative technologies such as Equinox, mobile twinning, and voicemail to email forwarding, which could make all the difference to the way you work.

  1. The move to SIP

The switch from ISDN to IP technology is on its way – BT has announced it will cease ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network) by 2025 and stop selling it by 2022, and Vodafone is in fact fully decommissioning the ISDN circuits in just a few months. So if you haven’t already, now is the time to consider moving to SIP. Want to know how to make the switch as seamless as possible? Take a look at the options incovo offers HERE.

  1. IP Office in the Cloud

Great news for those looking to save space in the workplace – IP Office phone system can now be hosted in the Cloud, so there’s no need for extra hardware in your office, meaning you can free up essential desk space. Plus you can spread the cost by paying monthly, just call 0345 450 8400 to speak to an incovo expert about getting started.

  1. Automation with the ACCS application

When it comes to contact centres, we reckon the Avaya Contact Centre Select is the way forward. This brand new application enables contact centres to improve their customer experience, and we all know that happy customers are loyal customers! To find out how it could potentially benefit your business, email incovo now at support@incovo.com and they’ll talk you through the finer details.

  1. Cutting edge printing software

Look out for the latest updates from the likes of DocuSign – a widely compatible and accessible digital transaction management platform that offers advanced reporting features like PKI (Public Key Infrastructure) to keep your online signature secure. PaperCut is also one to watch – they provide simple and affordable print management software which makes it easier to manage your printing devices and users. Arrange a meeting with the incovo imaging engineers to find out more about utilising your MFD to its full potential.

Has your business benefited from one of these innovations? If so, we’d love to hear from you. Tweet us at @incovo and let us know what impact you think it’s had – we love to talk technology!
